Wars have been occurring since the beginning of time, however, it seems now more than ever that the military has become quite a hot topic over the course of the last few months. While funding is often times prioritized for the military, particularly in the United States with an overwhelming budget of $700,000,000,000, there are actually 23 countries that do not have an active military force, which is one thing many of us were not taught in school. Considering history covers most of the wars spanning across time, let’s test out just how much you know about military trivia!
2700 BCE
The military has been a long-standing institution in most countries and has been around for longer than you would think! While modern-day military looks a lot different than armies did in ancient times, the first-ever recorded war is nothing like you’d imagine it. The first to ever occur took place in Mesopotamia in c. 2700 BCE between the Sumerians and the Elamites. With the use of ancient tools, weapons, and chariots, the Sumerian’s defeated the Elamites, in what is known as the first-ever recorded battle.
