What Kind Of Weather Are You?
I'm sure we can agree that we all have our good days and bad. But if someone were to describe you as a particular weather event, what would that say about your personality? Do you come off as a warm and inviting summer day or a cold and harsh winter night?
Arctic Cyclone
Quite likely the inspiration for The Day After Tomorrow, a harrowing Dennis Quaid vehicle involving an ice sheet forming over much of the United States, an arctic cyclone is a storm over the Arctic Ocean and land nearby that, like any cyclone, moves in a rotating or circular fashion. Polar cyclones occur at both poles, but the arctic cyclone is specific to the Northern Hemisphere and thus moves in a counterclockwise direction. While these storms are relatively rare in the summer, they occur more frequently in winter months. The most powerful summer Arctic cyclone was "The Great Arctic Cyclone" (not too creative!) that reached a peak pressure/intensity of 962 mbar roughly between the North Pole and Alaska in August of 2012. The turbulence apparently contributed to the melting of sea ice that year, although ambient temperature increase was a larger factor.
