Dog breeding populations have been kept since pre-historic times. The dogs of old would have looked and acted quite differently than our familiar breeds these days, but over thousands of years dogs did develop into specific groups: guard dogs, watch dogs, hunting dogs, and even "sighthounds". If you're curious, sighthounds aka gazehounds, hunt like eagles with their eyes and their incredible speed, instead of by smelling the way you might imagine. Regardless, as these groups sharpened, humans began naming specific breeds and accentuating the traits that we find so familiar today.

When Jessie was young, she always wanted to be a hairdresser. Turns out, writing quizzes and content for sites online involves cutting WAY less stuff off of people's heads. Who knew? But Jessie still cuts hair for her friends and family, who generally shy away from her friendly offers for a trim. Maybe it's the haircut, or maybe it's the trivia questions and obsession with the Kardashians that put them off. Jessie doesn't know, and Jessie is fine with that :)
